What actually happens at the registration office
- 1
The deed is checked
The drafted deed, the stamp value and the property details are checked against the record before anything is registered.
- 2
Biometrics and photograph
Thumb impressions and photographs are taken there for the seller, the buyer and the witnesses. Everyone has to be present in person.
- 3
Fees are paid
Stamp duty and the registration fee are paid — now mostly online rather than in cash.
- 4
The document number is issued
A document number is issued once registration completes. The original deed comes back to you a few days later.
You do not have to work the office out on your own
We have been drafting deeds in Gudiyatham and seeing them registered since 1989. Which papers you need, who has to attend in person, and what it will cost — all told to you beforehand.
